It 'difficult to deal with an area so rich in history, traditions, an
area extremely fascinating, between Etna and the sea. An area in which recent
years has had a chaotic development.
The intervention will
propose a recovery of the surrounding agricultural tissue and will create a
pedestrian and cycling connection the center of the village with the new
intervention which will host a big underground parking. The parking, in
addition to serving customers company, will be used as parking public by
improving the livability of the willage which wil be partially pedonalized.
The circular volumes
want to propose an architecture very recognizable, but linked to the
contemporary context. If in fact deliberately circular forms identify a
representative image of the intervention, detached building low-quality
surroundings, the coating materials used are stone local lava for the floor and
the facade building a warehouse and for the sandstone two other buildings,
material rooted in tradition local building.
The intervention is
based on a clear division of functions with the proposed volumes. The bigger
and North located circular building in his basement hosts a large parking lot,
while the ground floor hosts the main store; the commercial building hosts the
administration and sale area.
The southern
building, close to the roundabout and connected with a canopy to the commercial
building hosts the cafeteria, a conference hall, the library, the gym and the
guest rooms. Such clear division of functions allows the possibility of using
the buildings individually, saving energy consumption and avoiding overlapping
functions without public and private interference.
A great importance is
given to the proposition of solutions which ensure natural construction materials,
low power consumption and minimum energy supplies.
The local stone and
its particular implementation through perforated panels will provide a shading
natural casting for the for sale and services buildings, which will use low
emission glass.
The covers will host an installation of solar thermal and photovoltaic
system. The roof will facilitate the recovery of rainwater that will be used
for sanitary purposes and irrigation.
