A global PR agency (51 offices & 3rd largest in the world) wanted new, vibrant character that would reflect the global brand yet provide local Toronto flavor. The successful budget project took Edelman to a new level by focussing on three design elements: a boutique hotel lobby, a workspace featuring a series of glass boxes juxtaposed with super-sized photo murals, and a "magically removed" outdoor patio. The Reception/Lobby first captures the imagination and identifies the brand as larger than life through timeless pieces such as vintage movie cameras, a 1960?s telephone, a typewriter, and cultural notables such as Andy Warhol, Picasso and Lord Snowdon. Located adjacent to the Global Caf it?s a community meeting space with a cozy fireplace and iconic Hans Wegner purple chairs anchored on a purple carpet! The Agency space combines the clever interplay of perspective with the photo images, resulting in the strategic positioning of the glass boxes. A successful design collaboration resulted with photographer Nelson French by manipulating his photographic work into a series of super-scale and brightly colored murals. The Patio features bright green Camouflage700 "leaf," a textile from Finland, used as a backdrop for the fun and playful space?an extension of the Global Cafe for outdoor eating and impromptu working. The Patio has a forest feel, while primary colors on the furniture and Australian upholstery fabric add character to the space, which is a calm counterpart against surrounding downtown architectural drama.
