Honorable Mention! The challenge of the competition was to create
an office building that contemplate the needs of a regular corporative space,
but mainly, serve as an ecological example of how architecture could be an
example of ecology.
The site was located in Miraflores District,
Lima – Peru. The deployment of the building took into account the shape of the
terrain and the construction of two buildings on the East and West facades.
Therewith, we decided to do two structural blind side gables working as
boundaries on each side.
The project is distributed: on the ground floor
there`s a large hall receiving the visitors and leading them to the elevators
or the restaurant; on the first floor, 4 conferences rooms; 24 modular offices
composes the typical floors; on the underground, there are 100 parking spaces
destinated to vehicles, plus 70 parking spaces for bicycles (all the parking
spaces can be increased with the project of more undergrounds, if necessary);
and on the flat floor, a gym, a cafeteria, a swimming pool and a lounge garden
end the building. Some LEED requirements contemplated: alternative
transportation, bike rental and dressing rooms for the occupants; alternative
transportation, use of low emission vehicles, parking spaces for vehicles with
low emission of polluting gases; alternative transportation, parking area; light
pollution reduction, with horizontal brises in the north facade and light
shelves that reflect sunlight and help to save energy; efficient use of water
in landscaping, using graywater for irrigation; reduction of water consumption,
using vegetation adapted to the climate to reduce irrigations, reuse wastewater
to flush toilets and to clean common areas; local generation of renewable energy, use
elevators that generate green energy when use gravity to climb the cabin with
little load or down when heavily loaded; green energy, solar panels on the roof; facades with high
performance glazing with low solar factor and high light transmission that
provides thermal and acoustic comfort.
