This project is a renovation of a double "Echoppe”, the traditional housing in Bordeaux, into a modern house. The street-facing façade is the only element which has been conserved and is built in blond stone from Bordeaux. On the inside the plan is inversed relative to a traditional echoppe so that the evening/sleeping spaces are on the bottom level while daytime/living spaces are on the top. This configuration allows for the flow of large open spaces under the roof. The project illuminates the interior of the house as a stage that fully opens onto the garden.
