The Topeka Housing Authority hired el dorado to design two duplexes and a community center as part of a new sustainable housing development in Topeka, Kansas. The duplexes are arranged in a stacked configuration to create a shared interior courtyard. The second level of each unit has a private, shaded patio and a planted roof. Affordable materials such as cement board panels and a standard, repeated window size will lower construction costs and make the sustainable features possible.
