The NEW Injection
Situated in a typical hustle and bustle neighborhood of working area, Easy Tower currently appears to be modest and humble. We wish to utilise this opportunity to inject a sense of Newness into this 20+ year-old building through material manipulation and composition in contrasting the existing beige masonry facade through juxtaposition between the old & new plugged-in mass.
The Wave & The Pleats
Taking reference from the form of the wave, as a metaphor of fluidity and sustainability, we decided to create a lining of wavy material, which also represents the ‘pleats’ created from the folds in a garment. Such ‘folds’ create spatial depth to the facade and lobby, generating light and shadow through formal articulation.
Graphic, Lighting & Youthfulness
To spice up the carpark while maintaining a modest budget, using painted graphics and simple lighting in highlighting the spaces are the best method. The treatment would be achieved through the painting of simple geometrical patterns on the floor and unconventional usage of fluorescent light tubes on the ceiling to emphasize
the already nicely constructed ceiling structure.
