This apartment renovation combined two units into a gracious, functional duplex home for the client. The new floor plan for the lower level is an open, loft-like living space combining a kitchen, living room and dining room. A family room that also serves as a guest bedroom is separated by two large pocket doors. On the upper level there are three bedrooms including a large primary bedroom and bath suite. The interior renovation includes a new, minimalist steel stair which connects the two levels. The stair is composed of a folded steel surface with simple wood treads and a delicate steel handrail. Studio ST Architects made the conscious decision to limit the material palette in this apartment duplex renovation so that the unique beauty of each material stands out and provides the client with a sumptuous, yet visually understandable interior space.
