With its clients departing Boston for the North Shore, East Boston Savings Bank relocated to Peabody to remain convenient to its customer base. They challenged Bergmeyer to design a signature building for its corporate headquarters and retail banking facility that would showcase the brand to the bank’s new neighbors and express its consumer-oriented business practices.
The building’s architectural vocabulary strikes a solid balance between the familiar and the progressive that characterizes EBSB’s approach to banking. Terra-cotta rain screen cladding is a contemporary reference to traditional masonry construction. A dramatically curved glass curtain wall addresses the mall parking lot and introduces a heightened degree of transparency and openness. Customers are welcomed into a light-filled main lobby through a two-story atrium and greeted by comfortable furnishings set within a dynamic spatial environment.
