Set within the precious Okavango Delta, a UNESCO World Heritage site, Eagle Island Lodge, a Belmond Safari brings timeless luxury to Botswana’s wetlands. Inspired by the ancient sycamore fig tree, the newly imagined Eagle Island Lodge features 12 tented suites all fitted with an indoor bathtub, outdoor shower, and private deck with a plunge pool. The main areas interconnect with ease, introducing a beautiful new restaurant with a family-style open kitchen, wood-burning pizza oven, and a lounge area featuring a bar and library. Maintaining the design language throughout, the Fish Eagle Bar, near the new campfire and barbeque area, reflects the feathers of the lodge’s namesake with a color palette of yellow, brown, and white.
As Lead Consultant, Luxury Frontiers oversaw the complete redesign and rebuild of the lodge, providing design and technical direction for the project and completing the back-of-house and infrastructure design. Carefully planned around environmental factors, the team leveraged a mastery of procurement and logistics for remote safari camps, including transporting specialized materials to the site by truck during the Okavango Delta’s famous flood season.
