The Dutch Ambassador’s residence in Beijing is a large property, located in the embassy district. It provides accommodation in two wings: one for official embassy activities, the other for private purposes. Each wing has its own view of the garden.
The most expressive part of the design is a long wall of Mongolian granite, topped by a cantilevered roof. The south and west wings have glass façades overlooking the garden, which has been landscaped to resemble a dry river. Between the two wings, a large conservatory provides a welcome touch of greenery and warmth during Beijing’s harsh winters.
