In this 1900sf 2 bedroom 2 1/2 bath penthouse duplex in the Meridian Crescent, FORMA’s task was to bring the builder quality space up to par with its potential: the great location, magnificent views and ample size of the apartment were unfortunately not matched by the quality of the materials and lighting, while the flow of space and functionality were lacking. FORMA opened up the kitchen to the rest of the entertainment area, and introduced custom millwork to house a flat-screen TV monitor and AV equipment, guest coat closet and storage. The large wasted space at the upstairs landing was turned into a study for the owners; all bathrooms were redesigned with upgraded finishes and lighting, and the Master bedroom was upgraded with a custom built bed. The final result does justice to the magnificent light pouring in and views of the city beyond, and turns a banal space to a memorable experience. The project was featured in the Spring 2007 issue of Washington Spaces magazine.* Check-out the project video on YouTube
