Vacationing in the North East, Tracy and Buell Duncan fell in love with the weathered shingle cottages they saw in New England. When they built on Bald Head they wanted a home that could have been here for a hundred years, but they wanted their home to be warm and open on the inside. We used dark wood floors and ceilings downstairs to create a refuge from the bright summer sun. Upstairs the bedrooms are painted light colors to provide cool spaces for the warm summer nights. Bring your own sand.
