For the new pedestrian-cyclist bridge across Liffey river, we suggest a solution in the form of steel arc bridge with the span of 134m;
Basic idea for the shape of the bridge is derived from the initial letter of Dublin city, as well as the competition conditions to avoid pillars in the river;
Guidance for selecting the final disposition of the bridge were three principles: aesthetic of the bridge, feasible technical solution and the sustainability of pedestrian-cyclist traffic when the bridge is in the lifted position, allowing the ships to pass under the bridge;
Hydraulic systems are integrated in the bridge hangers that will allow shortening of the hangers, which further results in lifting the bridge, allowing the river traffic to flow unobstructed;
The slope of the bridge in the lifted position is such that it allows the pedestrians and cyclists to cross the bridge at the same time while ships pass under the bridge;
Wi-fi hotspot, mobile device charging points, bicycle parking station with racks are planed to be installed on both sides of the bridge at platforms with different heights that are connected to each other with ramps;
Bicycle parking station is planned to be at the two lower platforms, while wi-fi and charging points with resting areas are planned to be at the highest platform;
Night lighting of the bridge is selected in a way that the arc and superstructure of the bridge are illuminated with white light, while the hangers are illuminated with green, white and orange light so that it represents the flag of Republic of Ireland.
