The Driza Latitud building is located in the La Perla neighborhood of Mar del Plata, in the Province of Buenos Aires. This area is characterized by its urban transformation, marked by a gradual shift from low to medium density.
Houses in Height
The building concept revolves around the idea of creating a series of four “houses” arranged vertically. Its design, materiality, and relationship with the urban space aim to enhance the experience of living in a building that offers the benefits of a house.
The Patio
The building incorporates a central patio that expands its perimeter, allowing more natural light to flow in and creating apartments with dual orientation and cross-ventilation—a spatial feature typically found in single-family homes.
Building and City
The building’s boundary, formed by exposed brick walls and an aluminum trellis, was designed to enrich the dialogue with its surrounding urban context.
The aluminum trellis acts as a filter between the terraces and the urban space, strengthening the spatial relationship between the interiors and the terraces.
Exposed brick, a material commonly found in the neighborhood’s houses, was used to ensure the seamless integration of this new urban structure within its context.
The Entrance
The building’s entrance was conceived as a spatial sequence, transitioning from the public realm of the city to the private sphere of the home, while passing through several intermediate spaces along the way.
