“DRINK’N HOPe” is a city wide sensational experience leading you to discover ninteen of the best bars in town from 09/24-27. The concept: each bar (HOP SPOT) takes on a creative challenge and invents a brand new, out-of-the-menu drink as part of Beijing Design Week’s creative program. At 100 RMB each, a “HOPPER” will get a specially designed “HOPPING PASS”- to hop to each “HOT SPOT” to enjoy one unique creation at a flat price of 20 RMB. The “HOPPING PASS” is not just a drink holder, it's a specially designed item from Lulu Li @ Moujiti. All the fund raised from sales of the "HOPPING PASS" and the extra donations will go to build a free community "HOPe CLINIC".
This project is more than a four-day delirious drinking fest across the city - it’s a fund raising program for eldely health care at BJDW Design HOP destination: Baitasi - an area with old homes of many people who have moved out a long time ago, and left many elderly people behind. this project aims to examine the possibilities of “Self-Organised" health care solutions in an ageing society. Co-curated by Matteo Labate, who is also a TCM student in China, “HOPe CLINIC” will be set up and running at Baitasi, designed by Geraldine Lo, this clinic will invite Traditional Chinese Medicine doctors to give free consolations to the local community. All patients can pick up free herbal medicines from the Baitasi Pharmacy Store nearby.
HOPe Clinic, this 16m2 temporary community clinic occupies part of an existing Hutong in Baitasi, Xicheng district in Beijing. The design as part of DRINK’N HOPE social initiative aims to offer a small healthy indoor green space in the Baitasi area.
Rethinking the waiting room as a healthy and green environment for the patient, this area is made up of off-the-shelf stool modules. The result is a landscape composition of seating and air purifying plants, such as Areca Palm Tree, Boston Fern, Heart leaf philodendron, Spider Plants, Snake Plants, Orchids. Patient could enjoy a little moment in this light filled indoor garden while waiting for their appointment. This courtyard will also be open to the public after the Clinic hour in the afternoon and evening. The Consultation Room has a circular compact table-chair unit that can be stowed away in the evening to serve as reception for the Gallery.
All furnitures and plants will be give away to elderly in the neighbourhood.
