FROM A QUIET AND PRIVATE CHALET TO A PUBLIC SPACE OF FESTIVITIES
This secondary house project is located on the edge of the “lac Bleu” shore of the Ascension village.
The aim of the concept was to respond to the needs of the Dorval family which was to have a private chalet that can easily became a semi-public space when needed for festivities and the whole family become non permanent residents.
To achieve this, we concentrated all the spaces that need to be inside walls to release the semi-public spaces. This was also the creation of a summer lounge on the north, protected from the sun with a panoramic view of the lake and a winter lounge in the southern space to allow one to bathe in the sun during cold days.
The master bedroom has been created to allow a fast and easy expansion of the lounge room when the extended family his here and need more space. So, the wall separating the lounge and the bedroom has been eliminated and the bed can flip into the wall.
