In Venice’s Dorsoduro district, this renovation transformed the 3rd floor of an original 15th century venetian building, into a cohesive, light‑filled environment. The removal of outdated internal walls opened up circulation and sightlines, while a custom platform carefully resolved differences in floor‑level between the front and rear of the property.
Extensive structural work was undertaken to reinforce the existing sub-structure. The design hosted new integrated air conditioning systems throughout.
The use of tactile brick textures, brushed metal gestures, and refined terrazzo flooring—respond to the historical fabric of the building while adhering to contemporary design principles. The design emphasizes light, blends modern and traditional and open spaces.
Led by Rinaldi Architects with on-site supervision by DLR Studio Venice, the project realizes a serene, grounded home that speaks quietly but deeply of history and context.
