A series of unremarkable post war detached houses are nestling a fine 1930’s Art-Deco house in Queen Park, North West London. forresterarchitects have provided a full architectural service for the house refurbishment with a new rear extension.
The house needed a new lease of life. With a growing family a better connection between the kitchen and large rear garden was desirable. The original kitchen was disproportionately small for a house of this size and an inventive solution was needed. A kitchen courtyard space was introduced to the rear garden which aimed to establish a new visual connection between the landscaped garden and the newly configured kitchen, dining room and lounge room. A series of new steps provide easy access up to the landscaped garden.
Initially, the works were limited to the rear extension. With the on-going works however it was considered necessary to increase the scope of works. Additional works were added which involved the complete refurbishment of the all bedrooms and bathrooms. One of the bedrooms was utilised for an en-suite to the master bedroom. The ensuite was large and provided ample space for a twin shower. For the client no bath was necessary, as it just wouldn’t be used. That said the plumbing was installed as part of the works for when the time comes when a bath is the more desirable option.
The final touch was a new rendered facade and roof presenting a revitalised building frontage to the street.
