As both architect and builder, we renovated a corner café into a modern urban coffee shop for Dollop Coffee. During the renovation, we uncovered elements of the building’s original structure and chose to leave them exposed. We filled the space with custom-crafted elements, including reclaimed white oak counters and tables, a zinc-topped espresso bar, and a glass pastry case—all made in Chicago. We replaced the outdated storefront with a large operable glazing system, permitting fresh air and natural light to flow deep into the space.
Coffee enthusiasts can hang outside on a redesigned landscaped parkway patio among the native grasses and mighty Elm tree.
