interior fit-out by Design Duemila
Project: interiors by Antonio Citterio, Patricia Viel & Partners
Supply of custom-made FF&E and millworks for business and VIP lounges by Colombo Stile.
The aim of this project, was to redefine what exactly an airport can be, so as to help make Qatar a genuine gateway to the world. The vast lounges project (totaling 50,000 square meters), developed by the interior design studio of Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel, is articulated across a multitude of spaces and perspectives, and crafted in minute detail, with a high level of refinement, top quality materials and finishes throughout, from the communal areas and the main walkways, to the most exclusive business, first class and VIP lounges.
Concerning our scope of work, the centrepiece of the first-class lounge of Hamad International Airport is a mirror-polished bronze-clad reception desk. Its lustrous form evokes the hull of a ship - a fitting image for this transport hub on the glittering Arabian Gulf.
Functional areas, such as the food and drinks counters, are similarly spectacular, designed and entirely handcrafted in Corian solid surface and bronze, prestigious woods, and metals such as stainless steel.
To complete this project, a combination of wooden paneling, glass walls, and modern design elements featuring stone and marble, successfully reshape the architectural space, enriching it with a unique atmosphere.
