The competition for the dog centre represents a new trend in the construction of dog shelters. Historically, very little attention has been paid to the architectural design of these kinds of structures.
The dog shelters of today are simply meant to be cheap practical structures, easy to clean and maintain but with a poor level of detail and comfort.
The vision of designing dog shelters with an attention to architecture gives the possibility of offering:
-Better conditions for the dogs, resulting in a better resocialisation.
-A good working environment for the employees.
-A friendly atmosphere for visitors, making it attractive to visit the dog shelter.
We propose an architectural design shaped as a light pavilion laying softly in the landscape. The pavilion opens towards the surroundings, resulting in an experience of light and nature for the users of the building and at the same time inviting the people passing by to visit the dog shelter, learn about dogs and, who knows... maybe bring one home with them.
