The Dog House Pavilion is playful new addition to our beloved Bark District in Southwest Champaign. The pavilion is part of a larger initiative to provide greater amenities and increased visibility for this valuable amenity. The wooden structure will help to protect humans and dogs alike during their journey through the park’s 7 acres. The iconic shape (is it a series of dog houses, a zigzag line, or mini-mountains?) will be visible from the road and help to create a sense of place and arrival. It’s like a people-sized doghouse! Once inside the pavilion, visitors will find benches that double as doggy passages and other opportunities to connect with their canine companion. Additional components of this grassroots project include a rebranding for the park and play equipment for dogs and their owners. Concrete structures sprinkled around the park will be available for improvised games between visitors.
