Located in Indianapolis, this upscale casual restaurant represents the latest evolution of a design-driven micro-chain that continually refines its concept with each new location. While the brand carries a recognizable DNA, no two restaurants are alike—each responds to its local context and community. In this Midwestern city, where winters are long and outdoor gatherings are cherished, the design emphasizes warmth, connection, and a seamless dialogue between indoor and outdoor dining.
A wall of glass divides the dining room and patio, maximizing daylight and creating visual transparency. The patio, designed for year-round use, features dual sliding doors for guest and staff access. An open frame defines the patio with a custom black steel canopy draped with brand-yellow overhead shades, and built-in retractable screens for flexibility. Boundaries are softened through layers of hedges, low wood fencing, and a glass fire pit, adding texture and visual warmth. Integrated lighting, heaters, and fans are discreetly concealed within the framework to preserve open sightlines and atmosphere.
Inside, the atmosphere balances refined comfort with casual sophistication. Warm neutrals, oak tabletops, and dark upholstery are energized by pops of brand color—most notably red bar stools against a black granite bar. On one side of the dining room, a group of bronze mirrors reflect ambient light, extending visibility without intrusion. On the other side, a softly lit alcove of booths carved out and clad with smooth Venetian plaster for more intimate seating.
At the heart of the space, a 36-foot open kitchen window connects chefs and guests in real time, showcasing the energy of the kitchen as a focal point. Stainless steel finishes and Americana-inspired artwork frame the experience, celebrating craftsmanship and community.
Positioned along the perimeter of a shopping mall, the restaurant is designed with two entrances: an interior entry defined by a wood-slat screen and biophilic wall, and an exterior arrival marked by six glowing globe lights and a glass fire pit beneath the patio canopy. The canopy beam doubles as signage, establishing a clear sense of place and a subtle nod to the iconic highway billboards across America’s heartland.
