DKY-TEM DKY-TEM project is designed to cover 1.000 residential units that are planned within the urban development regulations in Sultangazi district of Istanbul. Though the prototype scheme is projected via restrictive and directive FAR calculations, the main aim is to provide the largest public space as the project’s center of gravity by means of the opportunities created by the topography. The linear blocks are placed in the periphery thus create the social center and the shared garden in the middle of the site. Accordingly, the aim is to create flexible relations of the linear blocks with the surrounding streets and boulevards. In residential plans, bedrooms are placed on the façades that face the outer periphery, while the living rooms are planned on the side that looks at the shared garden that is assumed to become a popular place. Depending on privacy issues, living rooms are placed with an angular order. The level difference between the lower and the upper sides of the site that reach 18 meters is utilized to use the area more flexible, separating the functions in a stepped plan.
