A run-down 101-year old space in Vancouver's first mixed-use building was gutted, stripped, scraped, polished and painted. Two new steel pivot doors were simply welded to defunct iron drain pipes. A new 4' x 27' glue-laminated Douglas fir beam was laid on its side to become a continuous desk and meeting table. By unscrewing 6 lag bolts and removing the beam in 6 pieces the office will transform back to a residential apartment, instantly.
