In April 2000, Randy Klapstein and Larry Kelly of Pointe of View Condominiums (POV) and Garth Mann of Statesman, along with the top sales representatives of POV met with Alvin Fritz to discuss a new project in Kelowna, British Columbia. Feedback from the sales representatives and Al’s experience in condo design brought together a wealth of knowledge. After several days of collaboration, the architectural program was complete for what would later become a very successful project on the Okanagan Lake.Alvin Reinhard Fritz Architect Inc. provided a unique design in which 95% of the suites enjoy waterfront views, never sacrificing the privacy of the suites. Windows on shared walls were located above eye-level, maintaining privacy but still allowing for natural light into the suites.Discovery Bay Resort was so successful that a tower project, Sunset Waterfront Resort, was planned for an adjacent site. Sunset Waterfront Resort became Kelowna’s highest tower, boasting 21 storeys.
