Jaipur offers a glimpse of Greek Architecture
Welcome to Diona!
Chromed Design Studio invites you to Diona, a space dripping with grandeur and glitz, adding
to the old-world charm of Jaipur. Diona, which occupies a huge 36,000 square feet and features
a number of indoor and outdoor venues, is situated on the rooftop of a 14th-floor hotel - The
Grand Anukampa, offering a high-spirited and elegant experience. In order to provide the dry
but lively city of Jaipur a fresh atmosphere, Diona Abhigyan purposefully draws design inspiration
from Santorini in Greece.
Our Design Team at Chromed, took the opportunity to repurpose the existing shaft by converting
them into stand-alone pillars by tweaking its architectural language with monochromatic stone
and marble to emulate the layout and dynamism of Santorini. The white-painted wall broken
marble complementing the labyrinth of arches and vaults creates a captivating contrast against
the pink city scenery making its eccentric design stand out.
As one exits the elevator, a gleaming crystal ceiling is covered by a massive green wall with an
artful emblem that is now buzzing on Jaipur's social media. As you explore Diona further, you
may choose to seat yourself at the Alfresco - the outdoor area with cabana seating, ivory
gazebos, and natural ambient lighting. Additionally, you may want to hang out at the stage
connected with a glass house and be a part of Jaipur's nightlife. Alternatively, you may want to
enjoy a somber dinner at the plush diner seating overlooking the infinity pool with an
instagrammable bar in the middle. Another private lounge area is designed above the indoor
place to experience the heightened views of the Jaipur sky.
Diona is an amalgamation of volumes, niches, rounded curves, and monochromated themes.
Each corner is smoothened to give the space a clean and organic look. The restaurant's interior
is covered in a lovely overlay of shadows by the presence of multiple niches throughout the
restaurant area. Furthermore, the spotlights on the independent pillars and louvers allow a
variety of shadowed areas, fostering a tranquil Grecian atmosphere.
Cabanas along the seating area show a continuity of varying heights to the otherwise
standardized city height, allowing users to experience the stillness and variability. Each cabana is
segregated with a 3 feet planter to give a comfortable breathing space with a palm tree with
medium size plantations around it. The fabric used to wrap the cabanas is designed in a manner
that sways in response to the perceived wind force of the city.
This summer, Diona was launched in Jaipur, with Luxury Fashion Designers Shivan and Narresh
showcasing their vacation apparel collection.
Materiality
In contrast to the indoor flooring made of oak floors with brass inlays, the outdoors use broken
marble pieces, wood, and plain cement concrete (PCC). The infinity pool area has wooden
texture tiles that provide a perfect deck floor. While overall Isle of Greece Architecture inspired
the material palette, the finishes of paints and wallpapers manage to get diversity in patterns
without losing the distinctiveness of the design language. The planters' curved detailed edge is
one of a kind.
Lighting has been a prime component of every Chromed project, and for Diona, lighting
symbolizes more than just aesthetics. From natural illumination to illuminants, lighting is explored
uniquely in every part of the restaurant.
Every pillar in the outdoor area has an individual spotlight that creates a beautiful art of light and
shadow transferring you on a Grecian vacation. A series of light spheres line the cabana area,
brightening the atmosphere for weekend nights.
A Unique Feature
The Metric Lighting System, a brand-new lighting system used for the first time at Diona indoors
and out, consists of fabric lights that are kinetically charged. With a motor attached behind
them is their controller that causes the lights to move rhythmically, which enables mood lighting
to switch from white to colorful RGB lights in the evenings for a clubbing vibe. They sync up with
music to let you follow along!
About the Sensory
Our design believes that to achieve comfort in design colours contribute significantly by
triggering a series of conscious and subconscious stimuli. With a tinge of green and blacks
completing the whites along the walls, the outdoor seating spaces integrate gray cushions,
white frames, and wooden bar stools. The indoor areas unfold a mega palette of mirrors,
maroons, and greens. Where one end has the indoors lit up with a vibrancy of colors, the
outdoors is kept subtle with mild neutral and monochromatic shades. Stylish armchairs conjoined
with tables of green marble and glass, along with chandeliers over tables, define the luxury
comfort seating of the glass house.
Embracing art has always been a way of design at Chromed. We welcome you to experience
the Grecian setting and international cuisine that define Diona's interpretation of Art Deco.
