We identified three qualities in the design and construction of the original bandstand : craft, connection to the trees and landscape, and civic character. Craft is expressed through the stone masonry and cast iron work. Connection to the landscape and park is expressed through the decorative elements and proportions of the construction. Civic character is expressed through the quality of  materials that will age well and the way the building touches the sky.
