Firm
After the Tohoku Earthquake on March 11, 2011 and subsequent tsunami and aftershocks, the vast devastation which presented itself caused noiz to create a design for a future method of protecting oneself and one's possessions from destruction.  In such areas were tsunamis are an ever present danger, noiz has designed a concept house which is both raised above ground as well as detachable from its base and able to float should waters rise high enough.  The residence's base concrete structure is directed to align with the tsunami so that there is minimum resistance and chance of collapse prior to the home's detachment.  Additionally, utilizing the ship building industry, the house's bottom surface is created from a steel structure which not only will help support the home, but also protect from some of the debris which the tsunami will undoubtedly carry with it.
