/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////Benetton_Design in Teheran ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// The contrast between the ancient culture and the new emerging cultures, have gradually begun to disappear, approaching its asymmetries, United Colors of Benetton as one of the most recognized brands worldwide, has always sought to convey its global nature, from the diversity, building from the local. Can we build a building that merges, in a contemporary way from a cultural identity, a global message? ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Mass Hollow Out, Veils & Gardens ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// A singular figure, a recognizable, contemporary building that receives and transmits, merged and re means culture, which combines two contrasting and complementary elements, which are presented in the building in complete harmony, the mass and the veils. A new garden emerges, inspired by the ancient Persian gardens, -pairideieza- rises looking for light and environmental quality.A public space, a place who intends to bring the "world below" to "world above”. A garden of nostalgia and desire. The volume allows the reading taken on a systematic basis in the urban and natural environment. ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Cultural Impression Expressed Through The Design ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// The insertion of the BBT in its urban context is determined through three strategies: a strong volumetry, a permanent asymmetric relation between outside-inside spaces, and the reinterpretation of certain symbolic architectural traditions. The building imposes itself as a singular object, a drilled mass open to dialogue with the immediate urban context and the principles of its ancient tradition.
The first hollow out – the access gap - integrates public space to the building. It generates a covered gallery that was strongly linked with the space defined by Vali ASR Ave, reaffirming its urban building corner condition.
The second hollow out, -interior garden- has a dual role, practical and symbolic. A practical function of filtering and protection, and a symbolic function that refers to the concept of pairideieza (enclosed garden), associated with paradise in the Persian tradition. Finally, the third hollow out -top terrace- responds to the path of the sun, allowing a better use of daylight and solar energy, and directly linking the top floor to the background surrounding mountains, and linking directly with the top floor surrounding mountainous background. ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// The BBT skin design, allows emphasize the exterior perception of unique mass and reaffirm the condition of the interior content space, open at public use. Its design is linked to the [traditional] use of interior sifted light but at the same time achieved through a [non-traditional] pattern, which highlights the commonly used.It is through the use of two contrasting materials, glass and concrete, which leads to play with lights and shadows, transparencies, veils and light filters, by creating a peculiar environment that puts in contrast urban life to building interior garden. Simultaneously, thermal conditions control is improved by using the double-transparent skin system and it makes possible to enjoy nature contained at building's heart. ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////Once at the interior, the vertical circulation cores distribution allows equidistant horizontal routes to all points. It also optimizes the relationship between office area / circulation area. The interior allows the division of separate offices, as well as an open plan configuration, releasing the perimeter for a more efficient circulation. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// The new building BBT, was signed as an valuable iconographic building, which found in its volumetric and material configuration [where the local tradition is reinterpreted with contemporary sensitivity] a way to join local cultural identity with the business objectives of the firm.
