This project investigates a correlation between the Art Nouveau and the contemporary digital sculpting techniques of today. It is apparent that expressionism and ornament have resurfaced in the architectural discourse and have become more widely accepted. There are striking formal similarities between the work of the masters of the Art Nouveau and those which are being created today using the computer. During the early 1900's designers were tired of the collage that years of eclecticism had left behind and they were searching for a unifying style that could be applied to any building type. I see this similar sentiment rising again today with a rejection of the box and a renewed embrace of the whiplash curve. Once again we are seduced by works that are created specifically for emotional effect. We do not seek linearity and uniformity, we are looking for something new and exciting, something that makes us think and feel.
