Like the situationists Dérail plays a game with the city. Objects are thrown onto the streets and squares like a handful of dice. The objects sabotage the existing urban infrastructure representing our everyday patterns, and reclaim public space for new paths and perspectives. The work was inspired by Guy Debords concept of dérive: a wandering through the city led by chance. In Dérail, as prescribed by the French avant-garde organization Situationists International, violence is not avoided as a tool to force change.
