Dentsu, widely recognized as one of the most innovative agencies, needed a new headquarters workplace that was forward-thinking and collaborative.
To support the growth of Dentsu China operations in the ever fast-evolving advertising and marketing sector, the design of Dentsu HQ drew inspirations from futuristic, emerging technologies.
The concept of ‘Future + Nature’ has driven six sub-thematic directions, namely AI, meta-verse, data, sustainability, water, and forest for the entire stack of six floors so that each floor is unique, and visually and spatially stimulating, encouraging staff to visit different floors.
We wanted every staff member has visual access to the internal greenery and outside views. With strategically and evenly placed trees and planters, the entire open work area is conceptually a park, where any staff member has visual access to at least two trees. Green nature not only creates an uplifting and relaxing environment but also boosts productivity and reduces stress.
The second strategy for staff is for keeping the 'circadian rhythms' of staff in sync. Circadian rhythms are the natural changes that happen over the course of a day in the body. Internal body clocks keep these rhythms on track. Typically, staff sitting away from exterior windows would not have ideal exposures to the ever-changing daylight.
LED pixel panels have been installed on the ceilings of main streets on each floor. These screens not only provide general lighting but also gradually change their color to mimic daylight, helping to regulate the body clock of the staff working away from exterior windows and reduce fatigue, sluggishness, and potential sleep disorders.
The project has received both LEED Gold and WELL Gold certifications.
