A Dutchman who had recently split his time between the Netherlands and Brazil reached out to us after finding a sloped land of 5,587 square meters, with 80% of the area preserved as forest.

Enchanted by the area's lush nature, his request was for a simple house that would blend harmoniously with the context, so that he could enjoy this small paradise with his wife, friends, and family.

Upon visiting the land for the first time, we noticed that the 20% of the area where the building was located corresponded to a clearing surrounded by very tall trees that would be relatively close to the house. This could pose a natural barrier to ventilation and sunlight, in addition to overly shading the house.

To avoid the negative aspects of the proximity to the vegetation, we decided to concentrate the house at the highest point possible, which corresponds to the front of the lot. This location also allows for the creation of spaces that are more suitable for contemplation, where one can directly observe the treetops.

Another important consideration was the choice of volume and placement. The project consists basically of two angular blocks stacked on top of each other, and the whole structure is placed diagonally in relation to the access road. In this way, the house appears to emerge from the forest and reveals itself gradually. This configuration also allows for better utilization of the views and better thermal comfort, as the blocks were rotated with the intention of avoiding the afternoon sun.

The spaces were arranged to prioritize practicality. The garage has two accesses: one to the exterior side of the house, and another providing direct access to the pantry and service area, kitchen, and a powder room. The service area also features a small internal courtyard for drying clothes.

The social sector includes the living room, dining room, and kitchen, which are integrated and aligned with the view and the pool. This area has large openings facing south, and this positioning allows for privileged views of the forest, which receives sunlight throughout the day and reflects it into the interior of the house.

Externally, beside the social sector, the pool, gourmet area, and a contemplative porch were placed.

On the upper floor, the three suites are located, which also have large openings and a shared balcony.

The dialogue with the surroundings is complemented by the choice of a few materials that blend well with the place, such as the Cumaru wood panels and ceilings, Light Gray Wood Stone, and Itaúnas White Granite with a brushed finish.
