The city of Delano, California has had a rich history of agricultural technology and industry leading the concept for the Westside Educational Complex K-8 School. The campus draws references from the region’s history while focusing on green technology. The new facility adds to an already established educational hub that includes Kennedy High School, and Bakersfield Community College to the North.The campus is organized along a series of axis’ which make their way into the buildings along way-finding walls, reaching out like a connecting vine. Walkways facilitate a connection between buildings and entry walls provide a visual linear progression to define points of entry and act as collectors off the main paths of travel. Destination points act as informal gathering spaces including a large amphitheater at the heart of the school.
