Office IJzendoorn
The particularity of this office design of this company is the location of the building to build, but also by the final architectural form and effect. The particular location in the floodplain area of the Willemspolder and along the river the Waal calls for an appropriate architecture. The river and floodplains are extraordinary landscapes in the Netherlands. The location is outside the area on a high water free level. At high water levels it will be surrounded by the water of the Waal.
The construction of the office is the first step in a further development of the entire region, where the Willemspolder will be part of the the river area. The terrain and the new office for the company is incorporated in the landscape. The new office will be placed in a location opposite the historic church of IJzendoorn. This remarkable church is a beacon as you drive over the Waalbanddijk.
The starting point was a building that stands in the landscape as an object. The office had to be a bold and striking object with a universal image to both the river and the countryside and the village IJzendoorn. The office has turned into the most striking views. It therefore has a maximum visibility on the attractive surroundings. The rotation also ensures that the office is autonomous in its environment.
A relationship with the adjacent workshop is obtained by the shape of the roof. The articulated roof reinforces the angle of rotation at the location, and makes the building, of the simple rectangular volume, a particular object. It gives a nice interplay with the church. The brick facade is made of clay from the river the Waal. A reference to his place, the floodplains and also of the business of the company. Windows with staggered piers refer to the flow of the river.
The design includes an office building on three levels with a central core. The workstations are situated along the facade. In the middle lies a core containing the staircase, lift and toilets. The office has a all-round view. The large windows with parts open and sun reflective glass, display along with a good climate installation, a good working climate. The view is maximized. The bay windows in the short facades are windows on the river and the church.
But above all is the location and the area perhaps the biggest gain for the company. Working in this environment of nature and water makes this workstation very special.
