Danilo Perez's Jazz Club is part of the American Trade Building, a former apartment building turned gang quarters, now opened as an Ace Hotel in Panama´s Casco Viejo (Old Town).
This is the first Jazz dedicated bar in Central America and hosts Danilo Perez's Foundation students and visiting guests. The bar was designed by Hacheuve with the assistance of Rob Griffin an acoustic engineer that has worked closely with Danilo Perez and Herbie Hancock.
The old brick walls contrast with a new interior that flows with the music of the piano, trumpet and bass. Cement tiles and wood create the atmosphere and mood of a vintage club that has been playing Jazz for decades.
Illumination, landscaping and color schemes were directly selected and designed to enhance the raw space that Hacheuve encountered in this abandoned building.
"We believe that good design and music can bring together an entire community and change the way we experience a site."
