Daegu Gosan public library architectural ideas competition, Republic of Korea.A contemporary library is not only a landmark- it’s a SPACE for meeting, communicating, celebrating, playing and relaxing. We imagine it as an open public square with access from all sides. Positioned on the ground floor it is sheltered by library volume and works as an extension of the park as well. The “levitating” 2 storey library also becomes a local landmark- a windowless solid white rectangular shape is seen from afar and gives a sense of lightness, mystery to it. As a symbolic terraced path to Korean temples, a long ramp in front leads up to a modern day temple of knowledge.
