Project Background: With the significant population growth following Taoyuan's upgrade, the city government has actively promoted a large-scale public preschool construction project to meet the demand for early childhood education. The Dahe Non-Profit Kindergarten is located within the Tonghe Park in Bade District. The total project cost is 56 million NTD, with approximately 35 million NTD in central government subsidies. It is scheduled to be completed in June 2021 and will commence operations on September 1, 2021. The kindergarten will offer a total of 5 mixed-age classes for 3 to 5-year-olds, accommodating 150 children, as well as a specialized class for 2-year-olds with 32 children. A qualified and experienced team of early childhood educators will be selected to operate the kindergarten, with the aim of providing a friendly environment for children to grow healthily.
Architectural Configuration: The project is located within the Tonghe Park in Bade District. The park already features walking paths and children's play facilities, providing a recreational space for local residents. The non-profit kindergarten in this plan has been designed with minimal intervention in the park's layout. The building is concentrated on one side, while the existing walking paths and play facilities in the park are preserved. The main entrance is set back 12 meters from Jinhe Road, and green spaces are created on both sides for the kindergarten children to utilize. Low fencing is used to maintain openness between the kindergarten and the park, ensuring that both kindergarten users and local residents can comfortably use the park.
Color and Material Explanation: The entire building's exterior walls are coated with weather-resistant and waterproof paint, which provides waterproofing and insulation functions. The roof is covered with PVC waterproof membrane to enhance its waterproofing performance, ensuring a lifespan of over ten years. The overall architectural design adopts low color saturation, blending into the open landscape without overpowering the park's overall planning.
Design Conclusion: The Dahe Non-Profit Kindergarten is a three-story building with approximately 900 square meters of outdoor activity space and approximately 500 square meters of indoor floor area. The architectural design concept is based on creating a "village of little elves," providing a forest-themed playground that belongs to the children. The site is surrounded by trees, filtering out vehicle traffic and noise, and creating a space filled with natural greenery to enclose the internal play areas, while maintaining a single controlled entrance.
Different small houses are created to divide the activity spaces, allowing more light and air to flow into the areas, creating comfortable and bright activity spaces. Additionally, through the multi-directional extension of the floor, interaction with the neighboring park and community can be established, while ensuring the safety of children's walking routes. Abundant grassy surfaces form a safe ground space, enabling children to play freely and develop their hearts and minds in an open environment.
