The recovery and revitalization of urban centres.
D. Manuel II, 146-152. Building of the liberal period, marked by the abundantly illuminated central staircase, the main symmetry axis of the interior space which divides the rooms and alcoves to the street side and kitchens and bathrooms to the block.
The project was developed under the RECRIA’s program, with plenty of economic and programmatic constraints. We tried to give coherence to the facade, returning it to its essential identity, by replacing the traditional tiles, cornices and window frames. The staircase was repainted in white, lighting the central area of the house. We also reshaped the infrastructure and functional spaces giving them harmony and salubrity.
The intervention was based on restoration and conservation aspects, taking the building to its original identity and characteristics.
