When you’re in need of custom t-shirts and apparel, CustomInk is the premier on-line graphics company to turn to. When the growing company chose to relocate their headquarters to Merrifield’s Mosaic Mixed-Use community, they were committed to creating a space which communicates their brand at every glance, turn, and stop throughout the office. Especially important to CustomInk is the consistency of their external and internal/cultural brand, and their commitment to providing a relaxed but highly productive, healthy, and energetic working environment for their employees. Even the company’s maritime mascot “Inky” frequently appears throughout the space.
Driven by the company’s emphasis on "community," the design team created unique “Neighborhoods” throughout the space consisting of teaming areas, get-away spaces, and unique coves and connection places where employees can initiate impromptu gatherings and meetings … perhaps even under a small grove of live trees. A three-story monumental curved staircase reinforces the feeling of connectedness and community, and functionally unifies the 73,000 square-foot space.
To promote employee well-being and bring the-outside-in, external features such as small trees, plants, stone, and other natural materials are placed throughout the Neighborhoods. The indoor/outdoor connection extends to the large, natural-light-filled employee café featuring an outdoor terrace. A three-story atrium is designed above the café to create openness, enhance staff connectedness, and create energy throughout the entire space.
