Located on a 55 acre site in Boston, Virginia this custom timber frame home is inspired by the design of a traditional carriage house.
Our client is a black smith and cooper smith (hobbies) and volunteers regularly in Williamsburg, Virginia. After completing two phases of renovations and additions to his main home in Reston, Virginia, he approached us with his idea for this modest carriage house.
Before long, it became a very special custom timber frame home with cypress timbers, walnut flooring and decking, cedar walls, two levels of sleeping lofts, a sleeping porch, 5 bedrooms, a root cellar, and display for our client's antique tool collection.
We designed a number of custom timber connections and found a stone mason not afraid to do a large multiple fireplace chimney with lots of custom details.
