Curved Apartment is a private residential interior designed within a contemporary apartment building defined by a curved, cornerless geometry. The absence of orthogonal walls became the primary design driver, shaping both the spatial organization and the formal language of the interior. The project explores fluid transitions, lightness of form, and a restrained material palette to create a calm and timeless living environment.
The apartment occupies approximately 70 square meters and is organized into two main zones: an open living area integrating kitchen and dining functions, and a private bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. The original layout was completely cleared, allowing the interior to be reconfigured in direct response to the building’s elliptical perimeter and the client’s functional needs.
The living space was conceived as a continuous interior without conventional doors. Transitions between functions are defined through spatial sequencing, built-in elements, and soft partitions rather than rigid boundaries. Extensive use of curved, custom-designed MDF furniture follows the geometry of the building while concealing structural elements, ventilation systems, and storage. In the kitchen, fully integrated sliding systems allow appliances to disappear, maintaining a clean and uninterrupted visual composition.
The separation between day and night zones is achieved through a continuous wall of built-in wardrobes incorporating concealed sliding glass doors. Additional visual separation is provided by curtains mounted on hidden tracks, introducing softness and flexibility. A restrained palette of stone, fabrics, and furniture panels creates a tactile, textile-like quality throughout the interior.
Lighting is treated as a fundamental architectural component. Concealed tracks and discreet light points enable subtle modulation of atmosphere, emphasizing ergonomics, spatial depth, and daily use scenarios. All furniture elements, with the exception of selected seating, were custom-designed specifically for this project.
Designed as a comfortable weekend apartment in Krakow, Curved Apartment combines contemporary design with warmth, continuity, and spatial harmony through fluid geometry and integrated technical solutions.
