Private Interior Project
INSPIRATION:
The presented realization was designed based on the given space in a building without "corners." To create something unique, we felt it required a lightness of form, open space, a delicate color palette, and the appropriate selection of materials that would allow the technological realization of ideas. The overall theme is presented in a generally young, fresh atmosphere. It conveys a very warm atmosphere that, despite its modern and bold form, transforms this structure into a home. The initial inspiration was the shape of the building and living space, as well as the client's desire to create something timeless.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The interior occupies an area of 66 m2, divided into two distinct zones: a living room with a kitchen and dining area, and a bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. To achieve this division, the original layout of the apartment was cleared to zero. High-quality materials were used inside to maintain aesthetic standards for a long time.
Functional requirements included designing a comfortable weekend apartment in Krakow. Aesthetic expectations were for original, modern interiors that would stand the test of time. The project was realized in a modern apartment building without corners, with external walls running in a large elliptical diameter, which compelled adherence to the design "pace" and willingly accepted challenges. This also served as the initial inspiration to approach the interior project with smooth, soft lines, and rounded shapes. The architect envisioned a simple, modern approach with warm, delicate colors, especially well-designed subtle lighting. In the architect's vision, light was and is a very significant factor and component of this project. It allows for mood changes, achieving the desired final effect/atmosphere. Carefully designed lighting focuses attention on what is most essential: function, communication, ergonomics, decorative aspects, and atmosphere.
INTERACTION:
Thanks to a rational division of functions, the architect creates the feeling of a perfectly designed living space. The overall open space, unconventional treatment of transitions between zones, the absence of typical doors, invite exploration, enticing penetration into the interior. This allows for the possibility of experiencing the harmony that prevails inside, showcasing the pursuit of natural balance, peace, and stability, emphasizing a sense of simplicity and comfort by connecting zones into a whole, giving the feeling of a larger, very comfortable living space. The warm atmosphere achieved through materials, colors, and, above all, the way light is designed allows one to feel the appropriate climate, relief, relaxation, and peace while being in this interior.
TECHNOLOGY:
The concept of form and shapes rediscovers curved furniture. In the kitchen, curved columns made of MDF conceal static elements of the building and ventilation ducts. Sliding systems completely hide built-in household appliances. The division of functions, the separation of the night from the day zone, is accomplished with a set of built-in furniture/wardrobes that appear as a covering for a full wall. In these mentioned cabinets, there is also a hidden sliding system for glass doors, which is replicated in the entrance from the bedroom to the bathroom. Another element for optical division between zones is curtains on hidden curtain rods, which also introduce a softness of form. The overall combination of Khalo stone, fabrics, and furniture boards gives the sensation of fabric. The smoothness of form is achieved with MDF furniture. The designed lighting is based on hidden track systems with seamless light spots.
All furniture, except for the chair, was custom-made according to the design.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project began in 2020, construction started in Krakow in February 2021, and it was officially completed in September 2021.
