Current TV is an experimental media company founded by the former US Vice President Al Gore and businessman Joel Hyatt in 2005. The mission of Current TV is in Mr. Gore's words, to "shine a light on important issues, spark debate, and speak truth to power." Based in the US and Europe, Current TV's headquarters in New York will provide workspace for up to 70 East Coast staff members and features multiple conference areas equipped with video conferencing capabilities. The 12,000 sq. ft. offices are located in a prewar West Village high rise, overlooking the Hudson River.
The office is organized around an open plan that maximizes natural day-lighting throughout the space. Inspired by Current TV's mission of providing a multiplicity of perspectives, the main conference room, with its angled openings, provides indirect lighting while maintaining privacy.
