The design concept of this office building in Charlotte NC was born at the intersection of 2 main ideas.
_
1. A family owned business : legacy, home, shelter | Expressed by a vernacular gabled roof.
2. An open and flexible workplace : attract and retain talent. | Defined by a tall open volume, clear layout structure and simple materiality.
The design process has been very fluid, working hand in hand with the general contractor @myerschapman to achieve the optimal level of quality and cost effectiveness.
Extensive use of BIM technology has been leveraged from the beginning of the project to develop realistic renderings and virtual reality environments to discuss design decisions. Structural, Mechanical, Plumbing and Electrical Engineering BIM models are currently shared among the project team for coordination and eventually be transferred to the contractor for construction clash detection.
We are currently developing construction documents for this project, and will share more once we start construction during the summer 2020.
