Cumbres House is a residential project located in Cumbres of Santa Fe, in Mexico City. The shape of the house arises from take the advantage of maximum allowed space by the restrictions in ground floor.
The fundamental premise of the project was to design the house to be inhabited by a person with disabilities, and that person was able to move around the house all alone. Each space needed to be studied for the proper function and performance of the family activities.
We decided to place an elevator with skylight in the house, articulating the three levels of construction that enforce the program of activities. The ground floor is the public area while, the two upper levels are the private area.
A two bedroom terrace leads to maintain the necessary communication among its members all the time, while a skylight was placed in the kitchen with mirrors on the walls to give a sense of spaciousness and being in open space.
