The goal of the project was to create new connections within the village between the town hall, the park, the little squares around the library and the library itself.
The project was designed to establish a topographical link between these areas, which all have different heights.
Our goal was to design a human-scale building : a one-storey building that displays its services and activities for every passer-by to see. The inside of the building is entirely visible from the outside, which acts as an invitation for everyone who passes by. The glazed façade facing the South makes the esplanade look like an extension of the entrance hall of the library.
The simple shapes and minimalist design of the building's architecture contrast with the buidlings in the vicinity and enhance their presence - a dialogue between old stones and concrete that gives strength and temporality to the whole site.
The materials used for construction -stone and concrete - echo the buildings surrounding the library and anchor the new library in the heritage of the village.
