Compact, the building is composed of two overlapping volumes. The upper volume – coated with glass and steel – is eight meter cantilevered over the concrete base and protects the entrance, while standing out from the area behind it, facing a smaller street. The upper volume mainly contains the program segments for public use, namely hospitalization, while at the lower one the technical, diagnostic/medical and surgical departments are located. The structure of the circulations is based on columns of vertical accesses with stairs and elevators, located in the four corners of the entrance atrium. In the back are technical accesses and next to the entrance are the public accesses.
From ground floor and from the lobby it is possible to access the several sectors, such as imaging and special exams, consultations, and clinical analyzes. The most complex and technical sectors – surgical blocks, ICU, angiography, laboratory, clinical pathology and ambulatory surgery – are located on the first floor, while a large part of the technical areas of the building, as well as the administration offices, are located on the second floor.
The third floor is dedicated to the obstetrics and its differents sectors – consultations sector, obstetric surgical block, pediatrics, and hospitalization – and on the upper floors the hospitalization was organized in a very cozy environment, without neglecting the effectiveness and technical components of the services.
