The CTIA project began as a request for design concepts to upgrade an existing lunch room and escalated into a full renovation of 36,000 square feet of occupied space constructed in four phases. Working closely with a cautious client on schedule, budget, and workplace trends, the thoughtful design process led to a mature, elegant, and contemporary space.
The challenge we met was convincing CTIA to move away from enclosed offices for all staff toward a modern office layout. The improvements include offices along the windows with full height, clear glass walls along the corridor to share the daylight with the interior open space. Support staff was relocated to generous workstations with adjustable height desks and multi height work surfaces. Meeting spaces are defined by moving glass walls and reconfigurable furniture to transition into larger areas. This occurs next to the Café extending it into the casual social space and next to the Conference Center which joins the Reception and Main Lobby for large social events. A louvered panel wall next to Reception creates some dynamic interest and branding at a marketing niche for visitors.
A neutral color palette provides a background for bright pops of color around the space in accent walls, furniture finishes, and accessories.
Since this was a multi-phase project there were occasions when a newly renovated space opened directly into an old, existing space. The contrast in day lighting, light temperature, site line, and color greatly emphasized the successful updates to the space.
